Very Peri — Pantone 17-3938 — was introduced to the world at an immersive digital event Wednesday night December 8th at the NYC Artechouse.
WHAT IS VERY PERI?
Pantone says that Very Peri is a brand new color that represents the marriage of colors existing in nature, the physical world, and the digital world.

Leatrice Eiseman of the PANTONE Color Institute said, “The PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri selection brings a new perspective and vision to the trusted and beloved blue color family. Very Peri displays a lively, cheerful demeanor and dynamic stance that encourages creativity and creative expression.”
A BLUE THAT INSPIRES CALM BUT IS ENLIVENED BY A VIOLET-RED UNDERTONE!
Very Peri is a dynamic periwinkle blue hue and a vibrant violet red undertone. The color is merging the fidelity and persistence of blue with the vitality and thrill of red. Leatrice Eiseman, the Institute's executive director, says that when you add red to blue, you get a sense of happiness and this is unusual for the color blue. This makes Very Peri the happiest and warmest of all blue shades.
WHY PANTONE CREATED A BRAND NEW COLOR FOR 2022 COLOR OF THE YEAR?
Rather than diving into its pre-existing archieve, Pantone, the global color authority, preferred to invent a whole new shade for the first time ever, and created Very Peri. The Institute states that this newly created color is a symbol of the radical changes taking place in the world over the past two years. Coming out of a long period of isolation, Very Peri represents the transformative times we live in, when our understanding of daily life changes, our physical and digital lives become more intertwined. We have a very new vision of the world now.
